Acoustic Music with a Folk Focus
-

Brief history of the club
Greg Wilson, along with Jan & Allan Thomas started the club in 1978, meeting at the Mt Ku-ring-gai Community Centre. Margaret Walters, with Tom and Robin Hanson of Mt Ku-ring-gai, took over the running of the club in 1980 when it moved to the Beatrice Taylor Hall, Wallarobba in Willow Park, Hornsby.
In 1991 Barry Parks of Ryde, took over as convenor when Margaret Walters moved to the inner city.
Early performers included Marg & Bob Fagan, John Dengate, Bernard Bolan, Judy Small, and foundation members Margaret Walters & Tom Hanson (Mt Ku-ring-gai) of the Roaring Forties vocal group.
The current convenor, volunteer Peter Dickson, began the transition into the role in 2020 and in 2022 took over after Barry Parks’ retirement. Peter is ably assisted by Bob, David, Penny, Pam, Barry, Isabelle and others who volunteer in various key roles and contribute to decision making in their areas of interest.
Together, we can be regarded as a “collective” of folk who foster live acoustic music in Sydney’s north.
